Say Howdy to "Grandpa"
Using silicone as a prosthetic appliance has been quite experimental, but a few special effect artists have achieved successful results. The use of silicone is not new and is still being used by the medical community. We decided to give it a go and see just how the stuff behaves and all of the problems associated with it. The cross linked polyermization process and the use of extra silicone oil to soften the appliance has been a factor in creating a wearable piece of rubber. We encapsulated by the use of flocking fibers and prosaide. This allows the piece to have a transluscent appearance which is not achieveable with conventional foam latex rubber appliances.
